Buckeye High School’s boys varsity bowling team turned in one of its strongest efforts of the season on Monday, rolling past Brookside 2,506-2,249 at 184 Miller Rd. in Avon Lake.
The Bucks built their victory behind a balanced varsity lineup and a standout performance from Kevin Miller, then completed the sweep with a 1,968-1,580 win in the junior varsity match. Buckeye’s varsity total of 2,506 pins was powered by four bowlers over 400 series and a steady pair of Baker games.
Miller delivered the match’s defining effort in the opening game. The Buckeye bowler started with 10 consecutive strikes on his way to a 288, finishing the night with a 482 series after adding a 194 in game two. His near-300 game provided a major early lift and set the tone for the Bucks’ overall performance.
Buckeye received another major spark from Alex Marconi, who was one of the most consistent bowlers on the lanes. Marconi posted games of 246 and 247 for a 493 series, the highest two-game total of the match. John Ambrose added strong support with a 244-191—435 line, giving the Bucks a formidable three-man foundation at the top of the lineup.
The Bucks’ depth also showed through in the middle of the order. Gavin Onyx rebounded from a 154 in the first game to fire a 251 in the second, finishing with a 405 series and helping Buckeye widen its advantage. Hunter Uehlein contributed a 184 game, and SAW added a 150 game, providing valuable pins that helped Buckeye comfortably stay in front of Brookside’s total.
Buckeye closed out the varsity victory with solid work in the Baker portion, posting games of 161 and 196. Those team frames helped secure the 257-pin margin and capped a night in which the Bucks combined high-ceiling individual games with reliable team scoring.
In junior varsity action, Buckeye completed the sweep with a 1,968-1,580 win, giving the program momentum heading into the next stretch of the schedule. With multiple bowlers putting up big numbers and Miller’s 288 leading the way, the Bucks left Avon Lake with a decisive road result and another strong building block for the season.
