Buckeye High School’s Bucks men’s bowling team turned in a dominant home performance Wednesday at Medina Lanes, defeating Elyria 2,293-2,047 behind a string of high individual games and steady Baker play.
The Bucks established control in the traditional games, stacking multiple 400-plus series to build a cushion Elyria could not overcome. Alex Marconi led the way with a standout 456 series, firing games of 258 and 198 to pace the varsity lineup. Kevin Miller added a crucial 412 series, following a 178 opener with a strong 234 in his second game to help extend the advantage.
Depth scoring was a key factor in the victory. Gavin Onyx contributed a 395 series, posting games of 208 and 187 as Buckeye continued to pull away. Single-game contributions from Carter Fry (193), John Ambrose (181) and Sean Chambers (139) rounded out the varsity scoring, giving the Bucks a balanced attack across the lineup. SAW also chipped in with a 149 game, adding another solid number to a team total that proved too much for Elyria to match.
Buckeye’s performance in the Baker games sealed the outcome. The Bucks rolled scores of 172 and 196 in the Bakers, maintaining their momentum and closing out the match with clean frames and timely strikes. Those Baker totals finished off a complete effort that combined high-end scoring at the top of the lineup with consistent production from every spot.
The success carried over to the junior varsity squad as well. The JV boys posted an impressive 1,801-1,462 win over Elyria, giving Buckeye a sweep on the day and underscoring the program’s depth. While individual JV scores were not detailed, the margin of victory reflected strong contributions up and down that roster.
With both varsity and JV earning comfortable wins against Elyria, the Bucks men’s bowling program continued to build confidence heading into the heart of the schedule. Strong series from Marconi, Miller and Onyx, combined with reliable Baker games, highlighted a match that showcased Buckeye’s ability to post high team totals and close out opponents at home.
